My LTOPF Application Journey - EASY!

Image
During the pandemic, there really was a lot of free time due to the limited mobility.  One of the things that made me pass the time was the idea of owning a gun.  Here is the blog post from April 2020 about it (includes some outdated info and fees). And finally, 2024 comes in and as my wife noticed that I'm back to thinking about "new" things to pass my time.  That's what she thinks!  I came back to the pandemic research and firmed up on my LTOPF application. 😅 And here it goes: LTOPF Caravan - is a one-stop-shop event where gun stores partner with the PNP FEO.  Here you can do the requirements for New and Renewal of LTOPF such as PNP Clearance, Neuro/Drug Testing, Gun Safety Seminar (GSS), as well as other services like Permit-to-Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFOR or PTC) and special deals on guns & ammos.  I went to PB Dionisio Caravan last February 21-23, 2024 at their office in PBD Bldg II, 27 Don Alejandro Roces Ave, Quezon City, I booked f...

Breakfast rides - staple for the Vespa riders

Image
After my first Periodic Maintenance at 2 months from getting the unit, this is when I started to get a bit playful.  Leaning a bit lower, picking up speed and riding a bit further to reach the good breakfast spots.  I do this every week, racking up the mileage and gaining more experience and building confidence. WYNDELL'S AL FRESCO After passing by this place a couple of times, I finally got the chance to try it out.  Wyndell’s Al Fresco is a popular open resto in Tanay Rizal.  It’s a Café, Grill and Seafood place.  Parking is nice, in front of the resto with an attendant assisting in the parking so you can be confident that your bike is safe.  I didn’t get to sit at the overlooking spot as it was quite full at the time (there is still COVID btw).   So I picked a spot in the middle with no view.  Good enough. Customer service was top notch.  From the parking to the table.  Food is awesome!  I ordered the TapSiLog which turns ou...

Goodbye S125, Hello GTS!

Image
Early 2021 when I finally got the approval to upgrade my ride.  So as painful for me to let my S125 go, I did!  It was a fun ride, but the heart wants what the heart wants – and it’s white, with side grills of the GTS! So after a 5-month waiting period, I finally got my unit!  Oh, and a key factor to this is my wife messaged (or gave an ultimatum to) my agent about releasing it on my birthday (or else I'll go for the Ducati Sixty2 or the Triumph Trident which was the hype at the time).  And so it was, I finally got it!   But I had to wait a bit more for my OR/CR.  I had to make do with a weekend 10km ride around the highway just to keep the motor running.  I missed the holiday vacation ride and got it on the first workday of the year. #boo! But as with everything else, it too passed.  And I finally got the docs to ride.  First destination of course is the Marilaque Twisties, where its always a joy to ride (in the early mornings when the ...

Out with Sena, in with Cardo

Image
Installed on the Biltwell Lane Splitter, eventually replaced with an Arai Rapide Neo Music while riding I ride on weekends to recharge from the work week.  Music adds to the calming view and cool wind that hits me on the twisty Marilaque roads.  Oh, and it also helps that I get to focus on the road and not my phone when I need directions from my maps app, and make and pickup calls when needed.   As with my ride and gears, I go for practicality.  I got the CARDO SPIRIT which is the entry level Cardo wireless communicator with voucher promos during one of the double-digit sale events.  Was a good buy until I bought a second unit for my quarter helmet for my short rides. Coming from a SENA SMH-5s, the Spirit is sleeker, better audio quality and has USB-C. I usually ride solo and when I do ride with my group, I don't need mesh as they don't do comms. The sound quality improved from the Lane Splitter to the Arai Rapide Neo.  My Arai helmet is a snug fit and...
