Goodbye S125, Hello GTS!
So after a 5-month waiting period, I finally got my unit! Oh, and a key factor to this is my wife messaged (or gave an ultimatum to) my agent about releasing it on my birthday (or else I'll go for the Ducati Sixty2 or the Triumph Trident which was the hype at the time). And so it was, I finally got it!
But I had to wait a bit more for my OR/CR. I had to make do with a weekend 10km ride around the highway just to keep the motor running. I missed the holiday vacation ride and got it on the first workday of the year. #boo!
But as with everything else, it too passed. And I finally got the docs to ride. First destination of course is the Marilaque Twisties, where its always a joy to ride (in the early mornings when the kamotes are still socializing in their meetups). The objective here is to familiarize myself with the Vespa’s ergonomics, power and braking and to catch moto-photogs along the way. Mission accomplished!
After 3 months from getting the OR/CR, I am now at 1.1xx KM odometer and this has been the most fun ride I have had. There are some drawbacks though like its bulk and weight that makes it hard to maneuver on traffic, and the noise that comes from the fans. But it comes with owning a bigger unit and I have none of those 80% of the time. It has more than enough power to climb up the mountains and it’s a lot more comfortable than the S125.
Overall happy with the upgrade and I might stick with the GTS for the next couple of years, or until I have enough money to buy a real motorcycle which is the Triumph Street Twin. But that’s wishful thinking as of now. Cheers!
